Mio’s new Cocina Abierta concept combines casual and familiar with creative and authentic with a unique dishes inspired by Latin America’s most influential cuisine capitals. True to its Latin origins, Mio’s kitchen is the parillada, the corner taqueria, cevicheria, lechonera and the arepera all in one place. About Manuel Iguina, owner of MIO For 20 years Manuel Iguina has been a solid fixture in DC’s most influential culinary circles. In 2007 he launched, Mio leaving his own mark in the cities vibrant food scene after successfully leading the cities most acclaimed restaurants, including Café Atlantico, Oyamel, Coco Loco, Ceviche, Guarapo, and Mate. With a loyal following wherever he is at, Iguina’s work has been recognized by the Washington Post, Wine Spectator and the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington among others.

Chef For A Day™
Cocina Abierta, means that our Kitchen is open to aspiring chefs, foodies and culinary aficionados, who for one night can make their Food Network fantasies come true in our “Guest Chef for a DayTM” and cook up a feast in support of a favorite charity. Mio’s “Guest Chef for a DayTM” program has hosted more than 34 guest Chefs during the last two years and has raised over $30,000 in donations for many organizations throughout Washington and Latin America. This unique, fun and very creative fundraising format is available to all organizations and offers a chance to bring together staff, partners and clients in a celebration of good food and your culinary talents. The cost for a prix fixe Tasting menu (depending on the ingredients and sophistication of the dishes) is $55.00 per person (tax and gratuity additional). Ten dollars ($10.00) from the sale of each prix fixe menu will be donated to the cause of your choice. Of course, Additional donations are welcome and encouraged.
